Membuat Custom Bash Prompt di Terminal Linux / Mac

Kalau sudah bicara customize di keluarga Unix itu hampir tidak ada habisnya, lha emang di sana kita dikasih kebebasan penuh mau ngapain aja (terutama di Linux). Salah satu yang saya sering temui, terutama di kalangan software developer adalah custom bash prompt. Seperti yang terlihat dalam tangkapan layar berikut:

Cara Setup

Caranya cukup buat file .bash_prompt dan letakkan di direktori ~ (home), kemudian isikan dengan baris berikut:

Simpan, kemudian buka file .bashrc, atau jika belum ada silakan buat dulu, jangan lupa letakkan di direktori home (~), kemudian isi atau tambahkan baris berikut untuk memanggil konfigurasi di .bash_prompt yang telah kita buat tadi.

source ~/.bash_prompt

Selanjutnya refresh konfigurasi di Terminal dengan menggunakan perintah berikut:

source ~/.bashrc

Khusus Pengguna Mac

Khusus pengguna Mac, silakan buat file baru di direktori home (~), kasih nama .bash_profile, dan isikan 2 baris berikut:

source ~/.bashrc
source ~/.bash_prompt

Tujuan?

Tujuan saya yang utama sih, biar less cluttered aja, tidak terkait dengan produktivitas. Kalau mau custom sekaligus meningkatkan produktivitas di Terminal, bisa dilanjutkan baca-baca tema tentang:
